It is our role to support and encourage children to share and take part in the planning of learning experiemces that enhance and foster skills and abilities to; explore and investigate, problem solve, working together with peers, being a learner, follower, leader, teacher, and to take risks and learn that it is ok to make mistakes for it is an important part of learning.  Our environment empowers children to make choices from a variety and range of resources to support their interests, strengths and needs.

We value parents, families/whānau contribution and participation; making learning more connected and relevant for children by having a shared understanding between home and the Graduation Kindergarten.

The Graduation Kindergarten programme commences from 9am - 3pm, Monday - Friday.  Children are provided with morning and afternoon tea.  We carry out school visits, i.e. take our group to have morning tea or lunch at school so children get an idea of what it is like at school during those intervals, children get to meet their new entrant teacher and class peers, easing the experience of making the transition to shool.  We may visit schools pets days and relevant projects going on at schools that is of interest to our children utilizing the learning opportunities within our own community.

Opportunities are provided throughout the day for children to expand their capabilities, knowledge and experience through long term projects and co-operative activities.  Early literacy and numeracy activities are integrated throughout the programme.

We have a safe environment rich with various outdoor and indoor spaces within the Scallywaggs complex, as well as quality resources for children:

Day to Day routines and learning experiences

  • A fun gym and a rope challenge course
  • Small orchard area
  • An adventure playground and an open 'paddock' on site to support learning and especially the development of large muscles and group sports activities.
