We provide a quality education programme with appropriate play experiences that are safe, fun, positive, and stimulate learning.

Children are encouraged to EXPLORE their interests and DISCOVER the many possibilities of learning through PROBLEM SOLVING using TRIAL and ERROR in a CARING and SUPPORTIVE environment. The teachers are passionate and are committed to teach children in partnership with parents/whānau showing warmth and respect. Scallywaggs Senior Kindergarten believes in a T.E.A.M concept, Together Everyone Achieves More.

Edcation Review Office "Teachers are responsive, respectful and caring.  Expectations for children's behaviour are well established and positive guidance is used effectively to foster social competence and self management.  The consistently calm and inclusive tone promotes children's well-being and settling into routines.  Teacher's interventions are carefully timed to support developing ideas and extend thinking.  Children demonstrate high levels of engagement in sustained play and learning."

"A supportive and positive teaching team culture is evident.  Teachers acknowledge and prioritise the importance of developing and maintaining purposeful relationships with families/whānau."

Lynne Hastings, Head Teacher (Dip. Teach ECE)

Lynne has been working in Early Childhood Education since 2002 and has been a member of the Scallywaggs team since arriving in Waipukurau in 2008. Lynne believes that all children are entitled to equal opportunities that enable them to develop at their own pace.  She values each child's right to education and resources that allows individuals to develop and grow into caring and responsible members of their community.  As an educator Lynne recognises the responsibility and challenge involved in supporting children to achieve their goals.  Lynne also recognises that she is as much a learner as an educator and looks forward to learning from and working alongside children in her care.
