About us
Scallywaggs was first licensed by Jean Ennor in 1988 and catered for 35 children with one qualified teacher working with the children. Today we have expanded into providing Early Childhood Education and Care services to over 600 families. Scallywaggs is proud to have 15 qualified teachers, along support staff who ensure that children in their care spend their time in safe, secure educational environments.
At Scallywaggs, children learn through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences in a warm, homely environment with plenty of outdoor space. We focus on helping every child build confidence, independence, and resilience, while working closely with families to support each child’s unique journey. With flexible hours, year-round care (except a short Christmas break), and a caring, stable team, we give children the skills and confidence to thrive both now and when they start school

Parents & whānau we can offer you a service that is open 50 weeks of the year and flexible hours! We can provide your children with a safe and secure environment that has high teacher to child ratios. They will have the opportunity to explore our indoor gymnasium, organic orchard, and adventure playground, rope course whilst partaking in growing vegetables and learning about worm farms and composting.
